Lewellen Associates is an Energy Efficiency Consulting firm founded in 2013. They are based out of Lynnwood, WA. Prior to his work as a private consultant, Duane Lewellen was a principal for 21 years at Rice Group Inc., a mechanical consulting engineering firm. He also has 16 years of utility program experience specializing in commercial buildings.
Duane has extensive experience in new construction and tenant improvement HVAC and plumbing design, as well as energy efficiency optimization. He is LEED AP and EB accredited and is a certified energy manager (CEM). He has performed many preliminary and investment grade audits for commercial and industrial buildings. He is a lead instructor for the Building Operator Certification Program (BOC) and has over 25 years of experience teaching at the college level. Other services Lewellen Associates provide include energy studies, measurement and verification, and retro-commissioning of building systems.
Duane is recognized as an industry expert for the WA State Energy Code (WSEC) and has been actively involved with the code since the 90’s, when he was an original circuit rider from 1994-1997. His experience includes participation as a voting member of the WSEC Technical Advisory Committee for the 2009 & 2012 WSEC, training content development and delivery, and on-call technical support. Lewellen Associates also offers code compliance consulting services.

Our strategic partner for on-going maintenance and development for the WSEC commercial technical support website is Parthenon Software Group. Parthenon’s roots are heavily based on an engineering culture. Established in 2006 and based out of Portland, OR, they have become one of the largest Python focused development consultants on the West coast. With dedicated front-end JavaScript/HTML/CSS developers to complement their back-end engineering staff, they are adept at delivering an aesthetic user interface that promotes a positive user experience. They have Certified Scrum Masters and Technical Project Managers in addition to a dedicated Quality Assurance team capable of automated testing. Their core competencies are technical architecture, software engineering and deployment. As part of their project delivery, they often take on System Administration/DevOps duties as well.
